L’ignite – Timber Construction Regulars' Table Stuttgart

A joint exchange in an informal atmosphere on topics from the world of timber construction – the L'ignite Holzbau-Stammtisch Stuttgart took place on 05.02.2025!

Inaugural Lectures

Jun.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. Anja Lauer and Jun.-Prof. Dr. Philippe Grönquist gave their inaugural lectures at the Institute of Construction Materials (IWB) at the University of Stuttgart.

Anja Lauer introduced the field of construction robotics. She explained what distinguishes the field from robotics and what opportunities automation and construction robots also offer for the construction industry. She discussed the state of the art and the specific challenges that need to be overcome on the construction site.

Philippe Grönquist introduced the Department of Timber Engineering at the Institute of Construction Materials and the Materials Testing Institute. In particular, he addressed the challenges facing timber construction in the future, as well as the corresponding current research questions and proposed solutions. 

L’ignite Timber Construction Regulars' Table

Following the inaugural lectures and the reception, the L'ignite Timber Construction Regulars' Table took place. Esra Yaman and Alexander Caran presented Strabag's research and development projects. Tim Stark then reported on the use of robot platforms in research at the IntCDC.

The L’ignite Timber Construction Regulars' Table is organized by digitize wood and the Computational Wood Architecture Research Group of the University of Stuttgart and takes place quarterly in cooperation with changing network partners. In addition to keynote speeches and guided tours, it offers a platform for professional exchange and is aimed at all planners, craftspeople, researchers and entrepreneurs working in the field of timber construction.
