20.09.2024 – Meeting of the Digitalization Advisory Board of the Forestry and Wood Cluster BW

Meeting of the Digitalization Advisory Board of the Forestry and Wood Cluster BW

On 20.09.2024, digitize wood accompanied the Holzbau-Offensive BW to Tübingen for the meeting of the digitization advisory board of the Forestry and Wood Cluster BW. In addition to keynote speeches by Vanessa Just, board member of the Federal Association for AI, and Bernd Oswald and Marko Lehn from Gropyus, the advisory board was particularly impressed by the presentation of the young company LigTech. The company was founded in 2023 by Herbert and Joachim Fahrner and is planning the highly automated and ecological production of timber construction elements in rural areas of Baden-Württemberg in the coming year.

In addition to presentations and discussions, the advisory board also visited the factory of Triqbriq, a producer of wooden building blocks that can be made from weak and damaged wood. As Triqbriq is based in Tübingen, the advisory board met on the premises of the Westspitze Innovation Center on the edge of Tübingen's old town. The seven-storey energy-efficient commercial and office building was erected in timber hybrid construction by a+r Architekten from Stuttgart and is one of the largest buildings of its kind to be built in timber hybrid construction in Germany to date.

The Digitization Advisory Board is an advisory body of the Holzbau-Offensive BW and is organized twice a year by digitize wood.

digitize wood is based at the Cluster of Excellence IntCDC at the University of Stuttgart and is funded by the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Food, Rural Areas and Consumer Protection (MLR) as part of the BW Timber Construction Initiative.
