26.04.2024 – Exhibition: Innovative Timber Construction Wangen

As part of the Wangen State Garden Show, 13 innovative timber construction projects will be realized and exhibited – an opportunity for digitize wood to bring together the diversity and innovative power of timber construction in an exhibition. In addition to the two new research demonstrators of the IntCDC Cluster of Excellence – the Hybrid-Flax Pavilion and the Wangen Tower – the projects also include residential buildings, public buildings, bridges, other research pavilions and a retail building.

The projects can be viewed in a multimedia exhibition in the Hybrid-Flaxs Pavilion, which is centrally located at the State Garden Show. The exhibition consists of different levels: a map, a digital exhibition, a general knowledge section and in-depth interviews as well as signage in front of the individual buildings. The exhibition can be seen during the State Garden Show, which runs until October 6, 2024.

Map – Overview on Site

Visitors can use a map to get an overview of the site and view the individual buildings in miniature. Anyone planning to visit the buildings on site should also scan the QR code on the map table and view all the information about the buildings in the digital exhibition.

Website – Digital Exhibition

The QR code on the card table takes you to the digital exhibition, in which the projects are explained comprehensively and clearly. Texts, plans, graphics and images can be seen there. The map again shows an overview of the site. It is supplemented by icons that point out special sustainability aspects of the projects and at the same time illustrate how complex sustainability is: Energy & Supply, Health & Comfort, Building Materials & Construction, Climate Change Adaptation, Research & Innovation.

Steles – General Knowledge Section

The steles along the glass façade provide an easy introduction to the topic of sustainability in construction. They show interesting facts about timber construction and explain the interrelationships. For example, the proportion of timber construction in Baden-Württemberg is around 33% - making the forest state the nationwide leader in timber construction.

Tablets – In-depth Interviews

Now let's dive deep into the subject matter: In the interviews on the tablets on the sofa, the makers behind the projects explain their ideas, provide insights into the construction processes and explain structural and connection details.

By the way: the blue curved sofa symbolizes the Argen river, which flows past the pavilion, thus creating a connection between the interior and exterior spaces.

Icons – Sustainability has many Aspects

The interviews are sorted according to the sustainability aspects that already appear as icons on the map of the digital exhibition: Energy & Supply, Health & Comfort, Building Materials & Construction, Climate Change Adaptation, Research & Innovation. Anyone who is particularly interested in building materials, for example, can refresh their own specialist knowledge here.
